First Annual Virtual Transition Fair

The purpose of these important webinars is to provide information relating to how to navigate transitioning after High School to Adulthood during this Covid-19 pandemic. There have been many changes to delivery of services that had to be implemented in order to reduce the spread of the pandemic. The presenters will highlight what those changes are and how you can navigate through them.

The Virtual Transition Fair will include discussion of the Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education Alaska Transition Handbook:

Pathway to Adulthood and Employment and its important resources. Members from partner organizations will provide information about the resources they offer. This includes resources from:

  • Department of Education and Early Development
  • Division of Vocational Rehabilitation
  • Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority
  • Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation, the Alaska Job Center Network
  • Division of Senior and Disabilities Services
  • Division of Behavioral Health
  • University of Alaska Anchorage Center for Human Development
  • Disability Law Center of Alaska
  • Stone Soup Group (parent navigator organization)

Topics of importance for youth in transition that will be covered include the following:

  • Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR)

  • Center for Human Development (CHD) resources such as Working Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA)
